For this blogpost, I attempted to see how many metal bands used Nihil in their songs, or their albums. The word means "nothing," so it's pretty certain to be common in death metal.
I found that it was the 8th album by industrial rock band KMFDM, released in 1995. Recorded in Seattle. Also nihil is the name of an Impaled Nazarene album. The 1st song of the album is called "Cogito Ergo Sum."
Nihil has also been asociated with the philosophy of Nihilism. Nihilism corresponds with people believing that life has no value whatsoever, and in extreme cases of nihilism people may believe that nothing exists.
Nihilism comes up in the movie "The Big Lebowski" where a bunch of Nihilists come into his house and pee on his rug. One of the actors playing the nihilists was Flea, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Flea is the best bass guitarist of all time.
