Horace fought at the Battle of the Philippi. It was the final battle against Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus' forces and the armies of Marc Antony and Octavian. The Second triumvirate would declare this war in Macedonia so that it may avenge the murder of Caesar. The engagements that would be titled the battle occured on October 3rd and 23rd, 42 BC, with tension in between these dates as well. Brutus faced Octavian during the brawl, and Antony faced Cassius. Eventually the battle ended in a draw between the forces, without regarding the suicide of Cassius when he was taken by Antony's forces and heard a false report that Brutus failed as well.
