Perseus

Perseus was a significant hero in Greek mythology that is featured in the founding myths in the cult of the 12 Olympians. He was an ancestor of the Perseid Dynasty and the founder of Mycenae, a large city that was located 90 kilometers south of Athens, but is now in ruins after its decline around 1200 B.C. He is also the hero in Greek Mythology that has slain Medusa with the help of the gods Hermes, Athena, and Hades. He married Andromeda, who he rescued from her fate of being chained onto a rock and sacrificed to the sea monster Cetus.
