The Battle of Taginae

The Battle of Taginae was an instrumental battle that ensured the Byzantine Empire's conquest of the Italian Peninsula, where the army of the Byzantine Empire under Narses defeated the Italian Ostrogoths. It can be characterized by a massive Calvary defeat of the Ostrogoth army under the missle armed Byzantine army. The village is so named because it was located near the village of Taginae, north of modern day Gualdo Tadino.
Above is a map of the positions taken by the two different sides during the battle.
