The Trevi fountain is the largest and most famous Baroque fountain in Rome, located in the Trevi rione. It is 85 ft. high and 65 ft. wide, making it a very large fountain and a notable attraction in Rome. About 400 years ago, the fountain was fed by the Agua Virgo, an ancient aqueduct that supplied a pure source of water for things such as the Baths of Agrippa. It was Roman custom to build handsome fountains at the ends of aqueducts that fed into Rome, so the structure at the end of the large Agua Virgo would become a very ornate fountain.
